In general terms, the climate of Chile varies greatly according to the geographic regions.
The Big North (Norte Grande), with Atacama desert at the epicenter, has the typical desert climate characterized by warm daytime temperatures ranging from 22° Celsius (71.6° F) to 27° Celsius (80.6° F).
At night, however, it can get bitterly cold out there, not surprisingly reaching temperatures bellow the freezing point.

The Chilean Patagonia has an alpine tundra climate, not inviting from May to August, unless you don't mind lots of wind, rain and snow.
Chile's Central region has a Mediterranean climate, with an average annual temperature of 14° Celsius (57.2° F), with rainfall between May and August.
Easter Island has a humid subtropical type of climate heavily influenced by winds and ocean currents, with temperatures averaging 20° Celsius (68° F) throughout the year.
It rains evenly, but avoid May in particular, the rainiest of all.
